7. It's true but I really can't stand immature bashing. Like those annoying Ichigo/Hichigo shippers in the Bleach fandom who say, "Ugh, well Rukia and Orihime are stupid and weak and pointless characters so they don't deserve him." HEY, ICHI/HICHI MIGHT BE HOT BUT PLEASE TO BE THINKING REALISTICALLY. Not that I think Ichigo/Orihime is possible-- I actually prefer that ship one-sided on Orihime's side. :x

To #6: I can understand this feeling. Offline, my life is so utterly normal that I'm pretty much invisible to the public eye, especially since I live in a very conservative place. However, if I run into my people, I can let my fandom show. There's not really a disconnect between online and offline selves; the online self is merely the one that can be expressed with no artifice.

To #8: I can sympathize, but the reason you see so much Japanese stuff here is that Japan isn't so damn trigger-happy with litigation when it comes to fan stuff. The people who create books, TV shows, and the like, on the other hand, have the tendency to flip out. Like a lot of folks, that turns me off to that branch of fandom, so ... Japan it is.

To #12: Funny, fandom has helped me to be bisexual.

To #16: I just can't get into that game. Even if the fandom's cool, it's ... ugh. Square Enix just doesn't do it for me any more, especially since they started taking Sakaguchi's name off the old games that they're rereleasing. :-( Most uncool.

Re 7 - You're right. The world's biggest problem with haters is when they're stupid, though. As long as you don't bash the character flat it's okay not to like them.

you're right, the problem is with stupidity, not with the hate. But stupidity isn't only with characters haters. It's with lovers as well, and come on, you see that outside of fandom too.
What makes me so mad is that most people think chara hater = basher. I am personally VERY loud in my fandom, and i get carried on equally with hate and love, but I always have good reasons to hate or love someone, and I so love to explain them. I really like to talk about it, and I always like to have some sort of confront with the other side.
But what do I get in exchange of giving them my reasons, and waiting for an interesting reply ? "Basher" "idiot" "you should get a life instead of waisting your time hating a chara".
Instead I don't get them when I fangirl about a chara I love. I don't think it's right, as it has already been said, it's a double-edged sword. I'm not even offensive towards the fans, I've never did a hate shrine, I've never flamed anyone anywhere, and I'm always reasonable. I really just enjoy a good discussion, expecially if it's with different point of views. But.. it's impossible. The good example is that most people there replyed as if I were a basher (thought it's reasonable because of the joke I did with the images, but it was obviously a Joke. I don't spend my time ruining images, even if it's lulzy. I did it for the lulz.), when I don't think anything that I wrote there could let you think that (beside the images, that is.).I think it's sad, I want to be free to hate a chara and not be called retarded for that, not just when I say OMFG *drool* MELLO MARRY ME AND LET'S DO *CENSORSHIP*

I've had my share of dreams concerning Leon, and waking up from them were some of the most angering experiences I've ever had. >____<

Also, 6-- don't worry. None of my friends IRL are interested whatsoever in yaoi, slash, or even video games that much (my best male friend plays games enough, but he and the rest of them are all Christian, so they look down on it, I guess...), so my internet personality =/= my real personality. For the most part. I'm a lot more outgoing when I can type it.
