They're fantasies, and that's all they are. I'm not proud of some of my kinks, they'd be both impossible and cruel in real life, and I know that. I'd never subject someone to my kinks; that's what fiction is for.

There's acknowledging that you have unpleasant fantasies, and then there's loudly proclaiming that anyone who asks you to refrain from making a big public deal of said fantasies should gdiaf, which is different. That's what OP is saying here, I think.

Who makes a big public deal about them? All the stories have warnings and most people who do talk bout them do so in flocked posts on their journal or in communities for that. The only time people talk about them in a public way is in retaliation to secrets like this.

Believe me, I have no interest in making a bid public deal of my fantasies, and most of mine are tame.

I think it's more the idea that everyone should be OK and not judge anyone's kinks or have bad feelings about them ever because they're someone's kinks.

I've seen people go crazy on someone who said that they absolutely couldn't wrap their head around a certain kink being sexy/arousing because it was triggery for them. The response to that was pretty much "GTFO it's my kink and you should stop being so judgmental." Except not as politely put.

I think it depends where the person says these things, if they post those opinions in some communities and fandoms then of course people are going to go ballistic on them. And how they say it is also important.

Well obviously if they're gonna be ranty it kinda defeats the purpose of their asking someone not to rant all over them. But take a secret like this. Someone could say "I don't find [blank] kinks sexy at all because [such and such] happened to me and just the thought of it makes me feel sick."

9/10 times a whole slew of people will jump on them about how they're "so fucking judgy" and that they should "just not read those fics." The person never even said they read that kind of fic. The person probably walks on eggshells in fandom to not be triggered. But just them expressing how a certain kink makes them feel, just like people are free to say how much it turns them on, is enough for people to assume that they're someone being judged as evil and jump down the poor person's throat. Like a person who had a traumatic experience doesn't have the right to feel sick/not be at all turned on when they think about a certain thing or the idea that someone gets off on it.

If a person gets off on rape kinks, is it unreasonable for a person who was assaulted to feel sick at that thought? Especially considering the person who assaulted them got off on the assault? It's a reaction that a person can't control, much like someone can't control being turned on by something. I think the OP is just saying that a person's right to be sickened by a kink is just as sacred as your right to be turned on it.

As you can see from the rest of this thread, a lot of people are already feeling like their kinks are being judged when the OP even says in the secret that their right to have their kinks is perfectly valid.

I'd understand the weirded out/disgusted expressions. DX Even I disturb myself sometimes. Aren't kinks supposed to be kind of private(Never mind me. I like people here; I don't mind you guys knowing)? Hence why most kink memes are full of anonymous.

What I mean is the people who, when they think someone is judging them, go all "I LIKE XXX CONTROVERSIAL THING IT IS HOT AND YOU SHOULD SHUT UP YOU JUDGING MCJUDGYPANTS HDU NOT GET OFF ON THE SAME THING I DO I DON'T CARE IF YOU HAVE ISSUES." That kind of big deal. Which I keep encountering, whenever someone says they don't like someone else's kink for whatever reason. There's rarely any kind of actual discussion involved beyond statements like the above.

Yeah, that's definitely douchey behavior. You know, I've never actually seen a discussion of the hows and whys of any kink, just requests to have that particular itch scratched by a well-written fill.

well, anyone who's been on this comm more than a week has seen at least one of these threads with the kink-haters vs. kink-defenders, and I've yet to see one such thread that wasn't 90% exactly the kind of thing I wrote up there :/

I think the only ones I've seen here were about Kuroshitsuji. And a couple on the Portal kink meme bitching about how wanting a Vocaloid AU wasn't a kink and therefore didn't belong on the meme. WTF is the big deal with Vocaloid anyway?

I don't know -.- But I mean, things like pedophilia, rape etc. Those always get HUGE amounts of wank.
