(Anonymous) 2011-05-14 10:50 am (UTC)(link)I tried to get into the LARP fandom (NERO, to be exact) when I was 17 and found that, to my surprise, I was only one of two (out of 40) people at my local chapter under the age of 18. This ended up being one of the major reasons I never stuck around in the fandom - I was constantly talked down to like a retarded puppy both in and out of character.
On the other hand, I'm also a rather rabid fan of the Warcraft fandom, which seems to be the perfect age for me - almost the entirety of my 104 account guild is 18-24ish. We have a couple of people over (our oldest member is 36) but nobody younger (18+ guild).
