I agree that boy-kissing sounds silly though. I mean, no one warns people in fics for "kissing", right? So boy-kissing? Mn. And "homosexual relationship", I don't really get it, either. Except maybe if the community in question is for both het, slash and gen lovers, so then I suppose it does have a purpose. Although "slash" would work better and be less offensive, I agree.

No, it still wouldn't have a justified purpose in a community not specifically for slash.

In which case, you put it in the description section rather than in the warning section. There's a huge difference between simply stating your fic contains slash, and warning for it! First off, it's really heteronormative because when was the last time you saw someone seriously warn for het? The warning makes it seem like there's something bad about homosexuality, which there isn't. It also definitely assumes heterosexuality as the default/norm, which is problematic. And it's stupid to have the warning there when everyone who can read the description knows they're going to get slash of some sort. Warning for specific sexual acts is again, totally different, but warning just for two people of the same gender being romantically involved is silly and offensive.
Long story short, stating vs warning. There is a difference. The latter is what we're talking about here.

Personally, I don't really care where people mention the things that the reader may or may not care about in the fic, be it the 'warnings' or the 'summary' etc. I'm skimming that header anyway, and making up my mind whether to keep reading. But since I'm active in at least one fandom that has a fairly hefty percentage of people who would prefer not to read same sex pairings (and aren't that much on het pairings either, to tell the truth) and an equally hefty percentage of people who are just there for the slashy smut, mentioning the presence of het or slash in the header is simple courtesy. Fussing over whether the mention should be in one place or another is just fussing.

Pairing: Draco/Harry
Rating: NC-17
Warning: Homosexuality/Slash
It took me a long time in fandom to find fandoms where this was a trend but it exists, and it is annoying, even beyond the ~heteronormative~ implications. It's even more annoying when people "warn" for heterosexuality ugh.
