When they kept insinuating that the other guy was 'hotter' than Adina and that Adina had 'a fat ass' I kept thinking are we in the same imaginary universe, because *now* I can't suspend my disbelief.

It's a really cute film, but that part was a whole lot of LOL, NO.

Ugh, this this this! I actually got pissed off when the movie kept insisting Davina(?) was the hot one because while, yes, Barry Watson has a pretty face, he looked awful in those baggy shapeless clothes and sideburns wig. The broad footballer shoulders didn't help.

Meanwhile Michael Rosenbaum strutted around the movie in shape-fitting clothes, wide hips that no man should ever have, and high high heels...yet apparently he was the 'ugly' one? He was the one that men insulted and threw things at? Bull. Shit.

I didn't mean it to sound skeevy. I don't know if they deliberately padded his hips to look more female or if Rosenbaum's hips are naturally that wide, but he had a distinctly feminine shape in the movie. It was the sort of hourglass figure that Hollywood seems to think every woman should have. I suppose it's the reason he was made to wear tight clothes that emphasized his waist and hips, while the other guys wore baggy clothes to cover the fact that they are men.

So it was jarring that the movie treated him (and his shape) as though he was some horribly deformed beast, when he looked...well...very womanly.

God, I love this movie. To this day, "Mother's ASS!" still creeps into my lexicon of outrage. I'm so glad that a lot of the wank it generated when it was released has apparently turned around.
