I wonder how it's possible that I adore Vagrant Story SO GODDAMN MUCH but I could give a royal shit about Final Fantasy XII. I got to Archadia and just said fuck it.

Well think about it. Vagrant Story had one playable character, with an amazing supporting cast. You traveked through a very large area, but not very many areas. The story was gripping and completely unformulaic.

FFXII had the traditional party, with characters who didn't need to be there, like Penelo, Fran, and Vaan. You had to go throw a billion different places, all of which took forever and had a lame boss at the end. The bad guy was obvious and generic, and he didn't even do shit until the very end. Top the "adult" type of theme with chcobos, moogles, and other cutesy things, and it just kind of gets ruined.

Oh yeah, I know exactly why I disliked Final Fantasy XII vs Vagrant Story, but it truly boggles me that the same development team produced something I dislike so much (comparitively). I like other Final Fantasies with useless characters and deviating plots, dammit!

Don't get me wrong---I loved Basch and Balthier and Fran and... uh....Penelo. Everyone else was just sort of there except Ashe, and she couldn't hold my interest even as one of the more dynamic characters.

It doesn't help that the plot, which started pretty tightly-woven, just completely fell apart into random sequences WITH no sequence and long gaps between them. If the whole game was like the beginning, it would have been badass.

I like X better, despite all of XII's advantages, simply because its plot threads were consistent and the pacing was good.

Also the music was boring as shit. SORRY, ERIN

THE MUSIC WAS BORING AT FIRST YES but it got better later on >:[ Not stellar, but some of it was pretty sweet.

XDDD Yeah, Basch, Balthier, Fran, and GABRANTH DON'T FORGET HIM were the ones who kept me interested.

LIES. THE MUSIC WAS SHIT ALL THE WAY THROUGH. IF I WANTED CLASSICAL ORCHESTRAL, I WOULD GO TO A SHOW. Videogame music is about standout tracks and atmosphere, goddammit!

Gabranth was okay too but then, yeah, y'know =\

Kinda. Like, seriously, none of it stuck wth me at all. It was boring as piss even during the slightly neater times. If I could choose one complaint about the entire game, it'd be the damn music.

FINE I WILL CONCEDE, HE WAS HOT. Shame fuckng Vayne was lame as crap and NEEDED FRIZZ SHAMPOO.
