Because he's the poor little woobie that everyone is supposed to feel sorry for, and so far he appears to be one of the characters slated to be in a position of power at the end of the series. Unsurprisingly, he's the character most of the fanboys tend to identify with. They're so misunderstood...*sob*...but one day they'll show everyone!

And I don't get the fandom lust for the actor, either. That horrible wispy facial hair grosses me out, and his hair just looks poofy. What's the big deal?

But yeah, Jon and Tyrion: fanboy fodder.

It also doesn't help that I don't find GRRM's "biting wit" as it comes from Tyrion all that biting on a good day, and cringeworthy on a bad one. That line about "shitting gold" -- oh dear no.

I think maybe it's because I have similar hair and this is the time of year that it turns into a giant frizzball so I'm not impressed. (Plus he looks SO DIFFERENT from the way I imagined Jon.)

See, and I was going to call Jon a Marty Stu but I figured everyone would jump down my throat to inform me that TYRION IS GRRM'S SELF-INSERT IT IS KNOWN blah blah. And I know that, but I really think Jon is possibly deliberately the character set up for the fanboys to identify with.

Tyrion, in the books, is a little too bitter for me to like. So far, though, I'm loving him in the TV series. Damn sexy Peter Dinklage.
