I can wait if I'm forced to, and sometimes I enjoy that. Sometimes it's really exciting and magical to get the story as it comes. In those cases, I don't like to be spoiled. (Although I don't think it's a big deal if I am.)
But, depending on the storyline, I may be so anxious (in a bad way, not in a good, "ooh, suspense!" way) about the future events that I literally cannot enjoy what's happening unless I'm prepared and braced for it. In some cases, I will end up not watching the show at all because I literally cannot force myself to watch it if I don't know what's going to happen - the anxiety gets paralyzing.
So people who think they're being clever and sophisticated by refusing to "spoil" things really piss me the fuck off. Would it fucking kill you to drop the major plot points? I don't go around spoiling people if it's their preference not to be spoiled, could you pay me the same respect? I mean, if it's available to look up on the internet, I'll do that because it's inevitable that actually asking someone will generate a patronizing response. I (and other people who prefer to be spoiled) aren't children, we watch it differently.
