...am I the only one vaguely annoyed by the inherent bi/pan erasure that is inherent in labeling a member of a CANONICALLY STATED PANSEXUAL SPECIES as a lesbian? FFS, Karkat was completely blindsided by the idea that gender could in any way affect who a person would be attracted to, and to my knowledge none of the trolls have ever said anything about preferring one gender over the other! Yes, Kanaya has mostly been interested in chicks for her romance quadrants. That just means that, EMOTIONALLY, she didn't find many males to be a good match for her! That sort of thing happens--I should know, considering that is a pretty goddamn good description of my romantic life with the genders reversed.

And calling moirails/auspictices 'platonic'? IT IS STATED TO BE A ROMANCE. Sexual and romantic feelings DO NOT ALWAYS LINE UP WITH ONE ANOTHER. That's like saying that just because someone is asexual and disinterested in sex that they're not allowed to find a deep emotional bond with someone and treasure that as a relationship! Just because for the majority of humans, sexual and romantic feelings go hand in hand does not mean that they have to! JUST BECAUSE YOU DON'T WANT TO BANG SOMEONE DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE NOT IN LOVE WITH THEM.

Andrew actually said on Formspring that from our human point of view, Kanaya is a lesbian, meaning she is only attracted to females. He never said that this would effect her pale or ashen quadrants though.

The way he said it though (albiet OP dislikes that too) is that it only applies to human standards. We'd consider her a lesbian. There is no corresponding equivalent for Trolls, they don't even have words for gender-based preference.

For them, it'd be more like a fetish or preference of a different nature. Trolls might have figured out Kanaya only wants to fill buckets with girls, but in their culture that's more like "the guy who only dates blonds" as opposed to something so important they came up with a word for it. So your post is still right.
