Wanting a homosexual hero=/=Wanting every m/m pairing you like to end up canon.

I agree with this. Some of the people saying their slash OTP should become canon because there should be more representation of m/m couples (I never really see femmeslashers do this, tbh) seem more like they just want to see their pairing be canon. I can see some of what they are saying, and it bothers me when two people of the same gender act in a flirtatious way and then go "no homo" as well, but I think sometimes their anger over it comes off more as wanting a pairing to be canon than dealing with an issue related to queerness in the media.
