Yeah, and it would be totally okay for me to call a black friend racial slurs because she's an asshole, right? Or call gay people disgusting fags when they're assholes. The OP sounds like just as big of an asshole as the guy she's reffering to, imo.

Just passing through this thread but I gotta say it kind of bothers me you default to "racial slurs" but you're perfectly okay with saying "fags". Alrighty. Moving right along out of here...

I'm comfortable using fags because I am one and it's a slur used towards me. I'm not black so I prefer not to use racial slurs if I can.

And I don't disagree with that. As I clearly stated, my point was about this particular context. If you don't agree, that's fine, but acting as if I said misgendering somebody was never hurtful -- or even never a slur -- is just incorrect.

I'd prefer a slur anyday over someone purposfully misgendering me. Imo doind that on purpose is as bad as a slur.
