A bisexual person is attracted to both genders. Gender and sexual orientation does matter, though some people will argue that it doesn't. That's the simple explanation.... To a pansexual person, apparently, it does not. They're attracted to gay, straight, male, female, transexual, transvestite, etc. The labels don't matter.

Thanks for answering!

As a I bisexual person*, I'd still count transsexual (and transgender) people under "two genders", since they are typically male or female, no matter what their chromosomes are.

*Granted, I only ID as that because it's easier than explaining all the quirks of my sexuality, which is somewhere between bi and pan.

Oh my god it's so good to hear this from outside my own brain.
I am not entirely sure (especially since the exact details of the definition can vary based on source), but it's probably most accurate to say I'm pansexual. But because pansexual is a lesser-known term it's easier to say bisexual and, to me, the distinction isn't that important. Not irrelevant (and I understand those who dislike "bisexual" because it reinforces the gender binary) but I don't consider myself mislabeled if somebody calls me bisexual the way I would consider myself mislabeled if somebody calls me a lesbian.
