Bisexual is all about the number two--two sexes, male and female. Pansexual is for people who avoid the binary way of classification, and are attracted to many gender identifiers. In the event Earth was suddenly invaded by aliens, pansexual people--with their open definition--could be attracted to them, and bisexual people (by definition) would not be unless we were to define something like bi-xeno-sexual or something. XD

Eh, I'm pan and I disagree with the alien bit. Aliens aren't a gender identity, after all.

I'm in a fandom that has a person who's attracted to aliens of any gender as well as people, and "omnisexual" is most-commonly used to describe his orientation. (Actually, there's a friend of his who also thinks poodles are attractive, but they're alien to him since he's not from earth, apparently...)

But again, sci-fi, so.

None of my fandoms focus much on non-humans, but I have definitely seen omnisexual used in that way. Seems appropriate to me!

Hmm, but see, I think that only works if genderedness is involved, and not so much the alien stuff. I could totally fancy non-human males and still see no problem with a simple "straight" identification...

Yeah, it's kind of moot unless aliens and human beings ever make contact.

But in the context of fandom, we often see alien characters that fit binary gender models like Worf or Spock or Gaila, instead of aliens that are one gender or all genders or who don't have any gender system. It's harder to imagine being attracted to Grays or Tribbles. But I suppose it could happen!

Pansexuality (also referred to as omnisexuality or polisexuality) refers to the potential for sexual attractions, sexual desire, or romantic love, towards people of all gender identities and biological sexes.

Seems to include aliens to me, but hey--it's your sexuality. :)

Yes, all gender identities and biological sexes. Aliens are neither a gender identity nor a biological sex, they are another species.

Now, I do agree that if a pansexual individual was into aliens then they would be potentially into aliens of all genders and sexes. And I'm sure some pan people are in fact into non-humans! But not all of us; it's nowhere in that or any other definition.

Seconded. I consider attraction to aliens to be more of a fetish than a sexual orientation, because as far as we know they are fictional. If they ever move out of the fictional-only realm, I will happily change my opinions to reflect that.
