(Anonymous) 2011-06-16 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)I think the series is a pretty miserable piece of literature, to be honest, but it obeys the absolute #1 rule of writing fiction: it keeps you turning the pages. For the life of me I don't know how, but once you start you want to keep on reading. YMMV, of course, but I've talked to more than one person who agrees that "It's terrible, but I can't stop reading it!"
Mind you, there were times when I was headdesking at what was written, or bursting out into laughter because something was so ludicrous, or staring at the page and literally saying aloud, "Did I seriously just read that?" But whatever else you can say about Twilight, it kept me turning the pages. I've read a lot of books, and by authors I respect more than Meyer, where I cannot say the same thing.
