I can't say I agree, since Eugene has a straight nose, and more triangular shaped head, while Belle has a small upturned nose with a round face, but I would LOVE to see them bonding over a love of books.

Also, could I have an explanation on how his last name is a possible clue to being someone's illegitimate child? Because I can see how it could make your theory possible, but I'm confused as to if you meant just within that, or in general relation to Tangled.

This has to be my favorite Disney crossover idea ever.

I can't imagine Maurice dropping his son off at an orphanage or anything so maybe Belle is adopted? Then again Maurice being Maurice he could have just misplaced his son...but without looking for him like crazy like he did for Belle...

I can't make it work yet, but clearly by the fact I am trying this has become my head-canon too. (Clearly, as this is Disney and historical accuracy is laughable to begin with any "time period" differences are to be gleefully ignored.)

I really don't see the same features at all beyond brown hair and eyes and straight eyebrows... different face shape, nose, eye shape, forehead height, lips...

Also, if I'm reading correctly, the fitz as an illegitimate child was used mainly after last names were common and was used only for royalty's illegitimate children because otherwise the father would have a last name.
