Micheal Fassbender is the one that gives me the skeeves this way. With the new X-Men movie exploding in popularity so is he. But I'm sitting there going "So is he gonna kick the shit of your precious McAvoy on the good ship McFassy?"

What's the story with him?

His ex-girlfriend popped up and claimed he beat her, broke her nose or knee or both and caused an ovarian cyst to burst, took out a restraining order and demanded money for medical bill. The post I got that all from has magically disappeared and tracking down others is like grabbing smoke.

Apparently she's since rescinded her claims but had also claimed similar things of previous men in her life. It's all very sketchy, but just having the claim there feels like the elephant in the room sometimes. It doesn't take much to harsh a squee.

That lying bitch, she must have burned his dinner. Everyone knows that when abuse charges are dropped and people don't bring charges right away they're lying gold diggers. I mean, if he hurt her so bad, why didn't the bitch leave? She must have liked it, amirite? And lord knows women who get out of abusive relationships never ever get into new ones! Women are just out to ruin men's lives!

I did a lot of research on the mess between Fassbender and his wife, and I thought it was established that she was making the abuse up. She didn't report until two years after the alleged event, there was no evidence provided of the injuries she claimed to have sustained, and she dropped the charges a short time after making them.

[And for note, I am not a Fassbender fan and I haven't seen the movie, so I have no reason to defend him if I believed he was guilty.]

I thought it was just a girlfriend, not a wife. I understand that charges were later dropped and the woman had similar unsubstantiated claims in the past, but sometimes charges for things magically go away in Hollywood so I'm still left with that little niggling.

Yeaaah, I'm kind of uneasy, but I was all set up to hate him when I read the first article, so reading several other ones to get the fuller story made me go, "... oh." I'm trying not to react emotionally in assuming that every single accusation made by a woman is automatically true--which is something I reflexively do sometimes, because God knows abuse victims constantly have to fight to be taken seriously.
