F!S Anon Meme (the Fifth)

Secrets, rants, opinions, anything you want to say about your fandom or a fandom or fandom in general, do it here! Anonymously, of course. Get it all off your chest.

(LJ's still lagging here and there, good luck.)

I can't figure myself out. I'm attracted to male characters but not to any guys I've met in real life.
Has fandom completely corrupted me or do you think I might be a lesbian rather than bisexual?

I used to have the same problem. But then I stopped caring and told myself I'd sleep with whoever I was interested in (well, you know, who wanted to sleep with me as well obviously). And mostly I was attracted to girls, but I did meet a guy who I was attracted to. Just wait it out and see.

I don't think anyone on the internet can tell you what sexual orientation you have

I'm attracted to guys and girls in real life but I'm only attracted to male characters. I don't know what that makes me.

And it's not because I think female characters are shitty characters that aren't developed enough. I like most female characters as characters, I'm just not attracted to them.

I'm the same way, but I eventually came to the conclusion it was because most of them are shitty and underdeveloped. Real women? Complex, beautiful, and awesome. Female characters? Tend to be male-gazefied cardboard cutouts (obviously not in all cases, but to a distressing degree).

Seconding this but in a more purely physical sense. I'm attracted to people who look like real people, and female characters/celebs tend to be designed to look much more perfect-plastic-fake than male ones. I'm attracted to a good few female sports stars but no other female celebs, and it's not even because I dig big strong women or anything like that - they're just allowed to look real, and other women on tv are generally not.

This sounds like me, except I am not attracted to girls irl either. So basically, I am only attracted to characters. Sometimes this worries me, other times I realize I live in a sort of fishbowl and when I get out there's a good chance I will meet someone who turns my crank, and I calm down. Other times I think I'll be like this forever but it really doesn't bother me.

Depends on the day, though.

I'm kind of the same - I'm attracted to many many male characters, but rarely feel anything more than a passing interest in RL guys. The problem is that I find most guys I know douchey and extremely disappointing, and the guys I know who aren't like I don't find physically attractive. I wouldn't say I'm especially attracted to women in RL instead, but I certainly have much more satisfying friendships with them.

I think it's mostly to do with the amount of male characters who are extremely idealised: funny, intelligent, good-looking, respectful of their female friends, brave, compassionate etc, and then you get to real life and that's rather hard to find. I don't think that's a bad thing, though, because it's good to be picky. It sure does make things hard, though.

Just calm down and wait and see. I'm the same way, but I've slept with a few guys, so I don't feel "completely" gay. Sexuality can be fluid, sexuality can be a continuum. You don't have to be 50/50 to be bi :)

I tend to think of celebrity and fictional crushes as separate from actual attraction - I identify as gay but I do crush on male characters and celebrities from time to time. I'm not attracted to them in the way I'm attracted to girls, though.
