But see, you're running up against the same problem the poster you're replying to brought up. You might like to read about stuff that you would never want to experience in real life. But there are many people who like to read about specific kinks, and who also hope to/have had/plan to have those experiences in real life. I, for example, have never found a kink titillating in fiction that I would not (and in most cases have not) experienced in real life.
You can't claim that nobody who enjoys reading pedophilia kink stories is an active or prospective child molester. You aren't. But you can't speak to or for everybody else.
Of course, I can't definitively claim that anyone on that meme is an active child abuser, or would even want to be. But I can claim that it is somewhat common for child molesters to seek out spaces where they can trade stories with other child molesters. Some of those stories may be true, some may be fictional/fantasy accounts. Sometimes this is a lead-up to trading actual pictures or videos of real kids. Sometimes this is a way for potential abusers to work themselves up to approaching a real child. Sometimes, obviously, this is an outlet for inappropriate desires that people use as a means to avoid harming an actual child. But the point is, we don't know why people are requesting, sharing, or reading these stories. So, while I'm sure that you aren't a child molester, I'm equally sure that you have absolutely no grounds to claim that nobody who enjoys those type of stories is.

But no one has claimed this to be the case. What's being argued is the implication that if you read/write underage fic, you must be a pedophile, which is no more true than the assumption that if you read/write noncon, you must be a rapist or want to be raped. No one is arguing that there's definitely not a single reader or writer of underage fic that has those desires IRL, but rather that fandom is not the place to police those thoughts.

My point is this: More than 1 in 20 children are sexually abused at some point in their childhood. Some estimates put it as high as 1 in 3 for girls (1 in 7 for boys). A substantial number of those acts are committed on children under the age of 12. Who do we think are committing all these deviant acts, and do we think they are more or less likely than the average person to enjoy reading fictional stories about adults raping children? I would put my money on the former.
I do not think that all people who enjoy reading those stories are molesters. I really don't. I do not in any way mean to imply that anyone involved in this discussion would ever harm a child, or anything else. But I don't think it is safe to assume that all, or even most, of the people who are sexually aroused by reading about child rape would never consider harming an actual child.

You know what this reminds me of? I've been reading some stuff about "signature" serial killers by criminal investigator Robert Keppel. And it's interesting, but he keeps saying things like:
But judging from his sexually deviant behavior in photographing women in undergarments while bound and gagged in various degrading and humiliating positions, his plan had to have been to kill them in the first place.
Can you see what's wrong here? There are plenty of people out there who'd take sexual interest in "photographing women" bound and gagged in their underwear, and thousands more who'd enjoy said photographs, and they all aren't out choking women to death like the guy being discussed.
I'm grossed out and offended by statements that imply that the porn is taking people by the hand and leading them to commit crimes. You frequently see shrinks and people who work in law enforcement claim that certain types of porn are dangerous because they are catalysts for behaviour or some such, never checking the fact that their view is biased because of the populations of people they work with. Last I checked, child molesters can molest children completely absent any kiddie porn.
If someone is "working up" to molesting a child by viewing child porn, they have already consciously or subconsciously crossed a line in their own mind, and the porn is incidental to that.
Number two...I have no way of knowing if you are also a survivor of CSA, but when threads like this inevitably devolve into child abuse stats, I tend to feel kind of nauseated and used. What, is my abuse (indirectly, since no one here is referencing me specifically, but) fodder for e-peen stroking contests? Or just fuel for people's personal fires of righteous indignation?
You know what would actually, logically, help actual children more?
SHAMING PEDOPHILIA LESS.
Not the act of abusing a child; pedophilia, the desire.
I mean, do people here think that pedophilia confers massive fucking stupidity?! Peds KNOW how much they're despised, even if they have never actually touched a child. That's something that keeps even pedophiles who agree with society's dim view of their having sex with children deeply closeted out of fear that their life would be entirely destroyed if anyone knew they even had that desire. Which is something that keeps peds from, say, forming support groups, or seeking out therapy (like CBT, maybe) to vent and help them refrain from acting on a desire for children. Which helps no one.
Exactly what do people here think it fucking accomplishes to post shit like, "Well, some of those people might really, actually want to bone kids in rl, so let's not abandon shockhorrorsquickshame just yet!"
Oh yeah, that's real fucking useful.
Some of those prompters might, indeed, be actual pedophiles. (Although I'm inclined to doubt the idea that there's a group of peds attracted to fandom fics JUST because it has kids getting abused in them. Do you know how easy it is to find kiddie smut stories? Why would they need fandom?)
