I don't think John Green would be offended if you didn't like his books, because Nerdfighteria is all about evaluating things and finding what you like and finding other people who like that same thing.
Like most people here, my favorite book of his was Katherines, but I did enjoy Paper Towns as well - no, the plot wasn't super original, nor were the characters that amazing, but in general, I feel it encourages readers to think more than the vast majority of teen lit, and for that, I applaud him.

An Abudance of Katherines is my fave, too, Caryn! It was warm and genuine and funny while Paper Towns just seemed to be trying waaaaaay too hard to seem introspective and soul-searching. I did think it was technically well-written though, and I remember loving the first fast-paced chapter so much.

Yeah, Abundance of Katherines was definitely fresher, and while Paper Towns did have some good introspective parts, it definitely had a lot of trying really hard to get there. Katherines was just fun.
