Can anyone decipher this? I know it has something to do with the OP being annoyed at people positively reviewing their old fanfic, but squinting at it around the odd font and bad jpeg quality is making my head hurt.

I got to "There is better out there, much much better" and then I couldn't keep going either.

Maybe the rest explains why they don't just take it down if they hate it so much.

I thought it was a ten year old, but I'll believe you. In any case, OP is forgetting that there's a ton of HP fanfic that went AU the moment the next book came out, and some of it is marvelous. And I'll bet that this particular story was was written by a fourteen year old whose love for the characters still shines through. Ain't nothin' wrong with that.

The story is ten years old; the secret-maker was 14 when he or she wrote it.

In any case, OP is forgetting that there's a ton of HP fanfic that went AU the moment the next book came out, and some of it is marvelous.

Some of my favourites fall into that category, especially from the three-year summer. I've always found it better when stories that were ongoing when a new book came out just went full AU rather than trying to retcon in elements from the new book.
