(Haven't seen it with English dubs though, so I can't talk about that.)

Idk, I love Snow White as much as I love the more "modern" princesses like Ariel...

I'm more bothered by the people ho think she's an "outdated" idea of a woman. Fuck that shit. Snow White is the princess I most identify with. She basically does everything I would have done in that situation. Just because she doesn't fight the queen herself, doesn't mean she's any less of a woman.

Dude, this is the princess who manages to convince a hunter not to cut her heart out and runs through unknown forests for safety. She then assimilates to an environment completely foreign to her with the dwarves, that would be completely below her standing, and never complains once. She's badass.

I really like Snow White too, anon. She was a genuine, kindhearted person, and all the Dwarves seemed to like her for her, which I find pretty nice. She was doing something that made her happy.

Although, if you just don't like her voice or something, that's another thing entirely...

I've always had a soft spot for Snow White.

Good point. I always thought she and the dwarves were adorable together.

Not hating on Snow, but the Prince? Who sees a dead girl in a box and thinks, "Yeah, I'll mack on that?" Um, ew.

He's a sort of necrophiliac rapist in the original, so....

It's a goodbye kiss, he thought she was dead after years of looking for her. You've never kissed a dead loved one goodbye before? And it's not like he's macking on her. After that chaste kiss he bowed down in grief. There's nothing sexual about the kiss.

Snow White is hardcore and anyone who believes otherwise is under an unfortunate misapprehension.

I dig feminine heroines and nobody should ever be afraid of them. Snow runs the heck out of her household and keeps herself together while hoping to find love eventually. Also, she was acting sassy before any of the other princesses had started to work on their I Want songs.

P.S. Adriana Caselotti was an adorable human being.

I've never been fond of Snow White, but then again, I've never really like the movie all that much. Same goes for Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid and Bambi.

I will give her props on one thing though: Getting used to living with a bunch of brand new people is difficult in itself. When those new people are completely and utterly different from what you are used to, it's even harder.

Ia. I'm not crazy about the movie itself. Too much of the animals being all cutesy and and dwarfs singing hi-ho and stuff I just found uninteresting.

But I thought Snow White did make choices and take care of herself the best she could.

It's not my favorite movie and she's not my favorite princess, but how can someone HATE her? How strange

People hate on Snow White? Who are these heartless people? Maybe they should stop talking to their evil mirrors and get back to work, like Snow White does.

I think she's cute in that airhead darling sort of way. But her voice is a bit annoying.

Ugh, I hate Snow White. HATE HER. Her voice is annoying, she's so blah and bland, she runs away from logs and trees, then breaks into some random house and cleans it? Then eats a (surprise, poisoned!) apple given to her by what is possibly the creepiest old lady in the history of forever?

Snow White is like god spilled a person. She pretty much only consistently remains alive due to total accidents.

I mean, if we're counting, "doesn't get her heart cut out by a hunter because she is so pathetic," as a strong character trait then we've really reached the bottom of the barrel.

Cheesy as it is (that's one of Disney's favorite tropes), Snow White stays alive because of her heart. She stays alive because the hunter can't bear to kill her. She stays alive because she finds a nice home to help her recover from her stepmother turning against her. She stays alive because the prince loves her enough to bring her back to life.

She may not be aggressive, but she's still a good heroine. She gets understandably scared of everything around her when she realizes the home she had was a lie. She gets over it soon after. She blindly trusts the hag, which is stupid, yes, but characters should be flawed.

I agree, I think most of the people who hate Snow White haven't seen the movie in a while and piece together an impression of her based on song sequences.

Why are people looking at this movie with modern eyes?

Pft. I hated her before it was cool.

Seriously though, I hated her when I was five. I'm almost twenty. I have no idea what it is that rubs me the wrong way, but her voice, like so many others are saying, is definitely a big part of it. I think it's just Disney's portrayal of her period, because I liked the other kids versions of her I'd read in picture books.
