I think it can a great indicator of a bad fic, but for me it really depends on the question. "Will Snape and Hermione be able to work through their differences and find true love?" is pretty lame for a summary, especially if the rest of the header information is "Snape/Hermione" and "NC-17/Adult." But if it's something like, ummm, idk, "In an AU where Harry is sorted into Slytherin, befriends Draco, and Snape takes him under his wing because he's Lily's son, can Voldemort still be defeated, or will the pressures of having a Slytherin-support group keep Harry's hands tied?" I think it can work. Because you can't figure out the resolution of the fic from that, and it actually is a summary of what's going to happen in the fic.
