it's definitely becoming canon just because she's the most visible girl of the group (to even call her a heroine is a bit too much, IMO) and a girl and anyone who disagree is a delusional fujoshi who has their goggles screw on tight

Seriously, the extreme heteronormativity I encounter in this fandom is infrequent but quite aggravating. I don't ship anybody in this show, honestly, but people act like Karina/Kotetsu is waaaaay more "canon" than Barnaby/Kotetsu just because Karina is a woman and Barnaby is a man. I don't mind if Kotetsu doesn't read as bisexual to somebody (he did have a wife so he probably isn't gay) or anything like that, it's just really annoying to see such obvious double standards.
