(Anonymous) 2011-09-25 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)But I have to agree that I'm pretty surprised of the annoying vocal minority of that pairing are so vicious and arrogant that their pairing saying that it's definitely becoming canon just because she's the most visible girl of the group (to even call her a heroine is a bit too much, IMO) and a girl and anyone who disagree is a delusional fujoshi who has their goggles screw on tight. I feel like those people sorta missed the point that it looks like Karina is more in love with an idea of Kotetsu than Kotetsu himself because of the numerous times she fell for his pretty oblivious lies (let's not get to the very convincing lies he can pull off), the persona he liked to put up for himself and that someone always had to point it out to her. Hence why the episode of her realizing her crush on the guy was called 'Love is Blind'. Plus Word of God pretty much shot it down as possible because her crush is unreasonable and Kotetsu is completely obvious to female attention.
Personally, while the age is an issue. In during people post up some May-December romances, a critical necessity for it to work is that people need to be on the same page, which I don't think it's possible for those two.

Seriously, the extreme heteronormativity I encounter in this fandom is infrequent but quite aggravating. I don't ship anybody in this show, honestly, but people act like Karina/Kotetsu is waaaaay more "canon" than Barnaby/Kotetsu just because Karina is a woman and Barnaby is a man. I don't mind if Kotetsu doesn't read as bisexual to somebody (he did have a wife so he probably isn't gay) or anything like that, it's just really annoying to see such obvious double standards.
