<-- My opinion exactly.

I give a shit about final fantay summons but I'm interested in character design and for me those are boring, you can find them in a Dungeons and Dragons book or in a TCG. Hey, I'm not the one that posted those videos and whined about the new summons.

I'm ambivalent about her music but I like how she's turning her life into a Gesamtkunstwerk. What she does is not merely a gimmick for attention because there's alot of deep thought involved in all aspects and phases of creation and the promotion. Her work can be enjoyed from a singular view (e.g. listening to her music) but up to a academic viewpoint. Whether or not you find what she creates asthetical pleasing it's a form of modern, media spanning art.

Fighting misogyny with... homophobia and misogyny?

Excellent battle plan.

(Anonymous) 2011-10-24 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
She was dripping in sarcasm? Are you for fucking real? Did you even read his comments?

(Anonymous) 2011-10-24 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I think he was being an idiot, but he didn't come across as overtly misogynistic.

Are you serious?

"I see that you are a bitch.

Let me give you a hint: The fact that you were unpopular in high school does not mean you have some sort of higher ground when it comes to being hilariously over-the-top batshit crazy to people on the internet.

In short: Shut the fuck up, grown-ups are talking."

Use of a misogynist insult, and talking down to someone that is annoyed by his implication that women 'exploiting' fictional characters is somehow more offensive than men exploiting real women. He's implying that it's childish to think his bullshit smells.

"The number of feminazis who just assume my penis makes me ignorant in this comm is staggering."

People who use the word feminazi in all seriousness are usually misogynists, because the term implies that advocating women's rights is similar to Nazism, because feminism 'threatens' the 'rightful place' of men - which is of course above women.

"I said both genders exploit each other for their own benefit. There's nothing sexist in that."

You could maybe argue that this is just ignorance about how privilege and oppression works, but this:

"You're from the "I'm fat and ugly, so men are evil" school of feminism aren't you?"

there is really no way to argue this isn't misogynist. Really, there isn't.

In short: you're either a troll or overly invested in defending misogynist behaviour. If it's the latter, you might want to do some introspection and think about why you feel it's so important to stand up in defense of men who are being sexist douchebags.

(Anonymous) 2011-10-24 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"feminazi"

"you're from the I'm fat and ugly so I hate men school of feminism, aren't you?"

"bitch"

I think he said plenty to let us know in no uncertain terms he's a misogynist pile of shit.

(Anonymous) 2011-10-24 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
So we can't call misogynist assholes misogynist assholes now? We shouldn't call them out for making stupid comparisons and being ignorant and offensive, because that's just the same as pulling out misogynist insults and being a sexist jerk?

Oh, okay.

(Anonymous) 2011-10-24 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
PS. Try typing Tone Argument into google, maybe that will help you understand what you're doing wrong here.

The books are cute, but they are definitely meant for younger kids.

I love you, anon. I wish I knew who you were so I could friend you. I agree 100%.

AYRT

He was absolutely being misogynistic, as someone has kindly pointed out to you. He's a misogynistic piece of garbage, and I don't really feel obligated to treat him kindly.

I don't think I was so much being condescending to him as treating him like the vermin he and any other misogynist is. Anyway, I was just replying in kind to his tone when he told a woman who responded to his asinine sexism by telling her to go away because "the grown ups are talking," since he proved himself to have the maturity and critical thinking of an eight year old.

Got me?

....Grace?

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/___flight_risk/ 2011-10-24 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha, I thought I was the only one who now feels rage towards the word "always." I mean, really. It's a word. BUT IT DRIVES ME CRAZY.

(Anonymous) 2011-10-24 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Careful - you wouldn't want to be too judgemental now! Remember, you have to give people the benefit of the doubt even when there's nothing to doubt.

Fun fact: The first trailer creeped me out like nobody's business, but as soon as I saw the second, I was like: "Um... hi there, Tintin <3".

idk if that is weird or not 8D For some reason, the Uncanny Valley effect kind of dissolved with the second trailer for me.

I think I'm being baited here, so I'll post once more and stop. Don't want to feed the trolls after all, lol. They are rarely without shirts and there's no sense arguing with you since all one has to do is rent the DVDs and watch them. The evidence is there ;-) Their wardrobe consists of suits and flannel shirts and hoodies and jackets and jeans, etc.

(Anonymous) 2011-10-24 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm glad I'm not alone here. I actually don't feel like I can relate to other fans of Snape at all... while he IS my favorite in the entire series and one of my top favorite fictional characters from ANY fandom, I certainly do not justify his behavior or make excuses for him. I think its very blind that fans can defend him yet hate on James for some of the same reasons. I love him, but I can also admit to myself that he is a terrible, awful person (but endlessly fascinating and entertaining). I can only like him because he is fictional (I am hopelessly addicted to anti-heroes).

[identity profile] velvet-mace.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
In a weird way... maybe.

But it just doesn't make any sense. As a parent, I know my first instinct for my children would be to protect them and give them absolutely every tool I could to have them protect themselves. Which means, I'd have had them learning how to shoot a bow and arrow from day one. If I wanted to give them something to cling to, it would be like reading them to bed or some other comfort ritual. Otherwise, school is in session, and those kids would be taught how to fix an engine and what sort of things to scrounge for and how to hide. Those kids should have been set to siphoning gas or some other useful work. They'd be much happier knowing they can do something to support their community.

[identity profile] hikari87.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
...huh? There's never been any kind of romance between Penny and Sheldon, maybe you are thinking of Leonard?

[identity profile] otakugal15.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I saw that as more a thing that every time Sheldon makes a lady friend (Stephanie, Dr. Plimpton, that other old lady, um....even Leslie to a small extent, Penny), she usually ends up in bed Leonard. I can see Sheldon finally snapping over that, seeing the possibility that had things gone a LITTLE smoother at that wedding (i thought Leonard and Amy had some great chemistry to the point that I wouldn't have been surprised if they'd ended up in the sack), she would have, too. Thus Sheldon hit him, as a "she's my friend!! not yours."

I just can't see him as having underlying romantic feelings for her. But as a friend, sorta? Sure, and thus him trying to keep Leonard from "corrupting" another lady friend, as he's done before.
