k-pop fandom is what you make of it. there are plenty of fringe communities and places that are not omona or soompi or AKP or any of the fanboards where you can meet k-pop fans who are, actually, sane and don't just take everything their oppars/unnirs/favorite production companies feed them without looking closely at it. every fandom has its assholes. you're not seeing the good because you don't want to.

i follow a lot of awesome k-pop fans on twitter and we manage to have fun AND talk about the complicated issues in k-pop. it's really not that hard.

Like I care about that stuff. According to FS we're the laughingstock of fandoms but who gives a shit. I've been in a lot of fandoms and I can tell you now every fandom has craycrays, bitches, trolls, esls (if that bothers you) and hysterical fans. And yeah we can assume they're younger in kpop, but that just means that the fandoms with older fans are more experienced and clever at being cruel when they want to be.

And like someone said above, kpop fandom is spread out all over the internet over various fansites. There is a niche out there for everyone.
