Wow. I wasn't expecting so many of the comments to be shrugging this off as 'just how criminals talk' or 'do you want them to be nice or something'.

If Batman is fighting a thug, the thug might threaten to break Batman's legs.

If Catwoman is fighting a thug, the thug might threaten to break Catwoman's legs.

I think that gets the message across that the thug is smack talking and not about to offer to braid someone's hair. He's not being 'nice' and 'out of character' just because he doesn't feel the need to add another comment about how much he wants to rape Catwoman.

At this point, I don't care if the thugs use the word "bitch" like their tongue will fall off if they don't say it every other word. I don't even care if they feel the need to comment on how sexy Catwoman or Harley or Ivy or whoever look. But I do care that they're openly threatening sexual assault and rape, because it's skeevy as fuck. Maybe if we could just back up and not normalise that kind of shit in a game that should be just as enjoyable for women as it is for men, then we'd be making a start.

But it's supposed to be skeevy as fuck. These are the worst criminals in all of Gotham. They have done some terrible things. They discuss murder, rape, torture, and joke about how they killed their own friends and family as if they're discussing the weather.

And most of the dialogue does exactly that. It emphasizes the fact that there is a wide variety of all sorts of bad guys in the game. These aren't just murderers or theives in here. There are rapists too. There are the ones who discuss breaking Batman and Catwoman's legs, then there are the ones who discuss wanting to bone Catwoman or wanting to break Bruce Wayne.

And beating up potential rapists IS just as enjoyable for women as it is for men. Perhaps even more so. The thing it's normalizing is the punishment.

See, but none of them DO get to rape anyone. They get their asses handed to them on a silver platter.

I'm a woman, and I have no problem with the talk.

...Hell, I have grand amounts of fun kicking the ever-loving shit out of the thugs in question, since it's sort of illegal to beat up people in the real world, even if they talk about assault and rape. That's good enough escapism for me!

It isn't supposed to be enjoyable to listen to. (At least, that's not the impression I got). You're supposed to be grossed out or pissed off at the way they talk. It's up to you, as Batman, to decide if they are worthy or doling out punishment for the crap they spew out.

The only characters who really adopt a sexist attitude (overtly, anyway) are criminals who have been locked away for years. They are not good people, they are some of the absolute worst of the worst and those lines are meant to express just how terrible they are.

Hell, there's even a few here and there that say things so horrible that other inmates will go "what the fuck, dude, really? You're messed up" at them.
