Not gonna lie...I'm pretty proud myself.

I probably shouldn't be, but I am.

(And I don't think that's why people hate the Homestuck fandom, really. I think it's because frankly, some of the really die-hard fans are total morons and very vocal about it.)

I kind of hate it because its fans do stupid shit like this. It's not the first time Homestuck fans have taken over something that could've been ok and ruined it with their obnoxious over use of Homestuck. To me, they're the reason we can't have nice things.

Homestuck fans didn't "ruin" Newgrounds. They crashed it for a short period of time, not that that's okay, but they didn't ruin it and they didn't mean to crash it, and Newgrounds probably got a lot of good publicity after this. (I, who didn't watch the flash until half a day later, know I checked it out after, and I'd never really looked into it before.)

It was kinda funny (except for the people who pay for the servers...), and I can see why you would feel "proud" about it.

They're annoyed at the vocal die-hard portion of the fandom. I've seen it, and it's...pretty bad. Some people may also hate it when an artist they enjoy drops all their original work to draw nothing but trolls making out. (It's not my gripe personally, but I have a friend who hates this.)

The Newgrounds was just another straw for some folks, methinks.

It's definitely gone downhill, but I see the youtube versions of flashes from there getting a significant amount of attention (such as this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXasCjUTNpE ), so it's safe to assume it's still relevant.

I'm bros with an animator on there, and they do get good money for things that will bring in traffic, so there's that as well. They're likely doing pretty well for themselves.

That's...not a good reason, imo. (The second one. The first is perfectly legit.) I mean I can't tell people why to get upset but...the artist doesn't owe anyone their free work, and should be able to draw whatever the hell they want. Don't get upset because they aren't doing what you want them to do. (Besides, lots of people do like the troll drawings, and have the right to enjoy them.)

I'm not talking to you, mind, but indirectly to the people who think that. It pisses me off. =/

I thought it was coming out later in the day, so I was fortunate enough to see it without having to deal with traffic. XD

Uh, recap/summary of this newgrounds thing?

Basically: End of Act 5 came out. Broke the servers because not only was it huge, but so many people flocked to watch it all at once.

13-minute Homestuck animation ending the current act was very, very big. Hussie knew his site's server couldn't handle it. Much bigger site Newsgrounds agreed to host it. They underestimated the traffic, Newsgrounds went down. Animation was put on megaupload for a while, then back to Newsgrounds when the initial burst of traffic died down a bit. After it dies down further it will presumably end up hosted directly on actual Homestuck server.

Nah, the reason Homestuck is hated is usually because of fans.

As much trouble as it may have caused others, I still think it's okay to be proud, since you also seem to feel sorry about it. :)

I had to wait for Megaupload because it dropped in the middle of the night while I was sleeping
and the download took forever

I think most people who hate Homestuck fandom did before this point, and usually due to fans who treat non-fans like crap. Which does happen far too frequently.

But I digress. I gotta admit, it's NUTS than one fanbase managed to overpower Newgrounds. I'm sorry for anybody who was having trouble getting to NG over it, but... I also kinda laughed at the sheer scope of it. It was pretty cool.

Like the comic, hate the fandom. I can assure you that the Newsground thing isn't why I hate the fandom.

I like parts of the fandom. It depends on where you go and who you're hanging with.

lol nah people hate this fandom for a plethora of other reasons.
