Plus if you're so over it (fandom, or whatever), what are you still doing on [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] making secrets about it? That's what I really don't get.

God, yes. That always gives me pause.

But they need to make sure we all know how superior they are to our own poor benighted selves.

I understand your sentiment but your "metaphor" is really awkward and kind of dumb and you just come off as really bitter that someone went off and got a life and also apparently that you know someone who lost a lot of weight and feels great about herself while you're still really sad and alone save for your fat boyfriend who probably wants to bang the chubby chick.

i'd skip the metaphor next time - but only if you want to be somewhat coherent.

if you have to explicitly explain the metaphor, then it isn't a very good one.

Just say what you mean to say.

This secret has some confusing wording, but I totally get it.

I generally dislike the whole "I gave up fun, dammit, and watching you guys go on having it like a bunch of rubes infuriates me ~~and kinda makes me want to join in~~, so cut it out. >:(" attitude. It's so joyless and... Well, just needlessly cranky. And kinda immature.

Also, I don't like how people think being socially awkward is inherently a bad thing. Sure, some awkward people are jerks, but so are some super poised and polished people. In fact, the latter group is kind of worse because they're actually good at it. A lot of the best people I've known have been sort of clumsy/off with regard to social skills, but still super nice.

Yeah, it was confusing but I get it too.

What's funny is I know people who left fandom and they just talk about what they are doing and... that's it. But some people obviously use the opportunity to make fun of everyone, which I don't get.

Is it me, or has there been a lot of secrets related to or about being fat recently?

Even though the metaphor is a bit awkward, I totally know what you mean. There's nothing wrong with liking fandom as long as it doesn't go too far. It IS possible to be in fandom and have a life/be socially well-adjusted. If fandom makes you happy and doesn't take over your life, there's no problem. :)

This secret is the most confusing thing I've read all week.

I've seen some secrets about leaving fandom. It isn't for them anymore and they want to move on without hurting their friends feelings. It think it's nice of them to seek out advice abouting making the 'break up' easy, rather than just ditching without another word.

I haven't seen a secret about not being in fandom anymore, mainly because it doesn't make any sense. :S
