LOL NOPE. I ship it with the passion of a thousand motherfucking Suns. And I know many others who do. Doesn't make us bad fans, we're just enjoying something that was created to be enjoyed.

Join some Doctor/Rose communities, they are very active. You won't feel so alone any more. I feel weird every time I leave my bubble and encounter wild haters.

It only seems that the fandom hates the pairing because the haters are so loud and obnoxious. But it's probably split equally in half.

I thought the consensus was that you're only a real Doctor Who fan if your favorite companion is Rose and you think Ten/Rose is the best thing evah.

Then again I'm not in the fandom so maybe I'm wrong. But I thought the majority of Whovians were crazy about these two?

Dude, like whatever ship you want. It's not like you're the only devoted fan of this pairing. To be honest I'm not a fan of Rose or this ship but I've got nowt against anyone who is. If something gets such a passionate emotional response out of people then it must be doing something right, even if it's not for me. :)

I'm sure there are plenty of Roseshipping comms out there if you want somewhere to gush away from the haters.

Yea, no. Every "self-respecting" Rose/Ten-basher hates that ship. I don't particularly ship it and I was never really invested in it, even though it's canon, but I've never hated it with the fire that some people hate it. It's pretty ridiculous how much ire people have for that ship.

Hey OP, Doctor/Rose for the most irritates the shit out of me but even *I* cried for quite some time when that episode first aired. Personally I thought that ending was quite well done and I find it odd when people say they didn't even feel a tiny bit of a twinge of sadness but each to their own.

So essentially there's nothing wrong with being upset by something you're emotionally invested in and people who ship Doctor/Rose deserve their corner of fandom as much as anyone.

I'm not really in the fandom, but I've never understood why people bash each other for having ships they don't like? It's like...wow, you have different opinions on what fictional characters fit well together. That's horrifying.

(This was literally the first episode of Doctor Who that I ever watched, and I still teared up a little.)

OP, it was the Martha Stans who really drummed in the Rose/Doctor hate, and it sort of went on from there and grew and grew into this behemoth of hatred towards the pairing in large pockets of fandom, when at the time when season 2 was airing, people weren't so vocal at all.

But you know, Haters Gon' Hate.

THAT scene is a constant tearjerker :(

Nah man, haters gonna hate but there's plenty of people who like Rose and the ship. You chose wisely. If you're so inclined, check out some of the fandom -- on lj that'd be time_and_chips, or doctor_rose_fix, or d_r_meta, to name a few.

At the end of season 2, I was so visibly upset that my 5 year old nephew started comforting me, telling me not to worry because "girl doctor" would come back. I guess he was right. ^_^;;

Like whatever you like. Fuck the haters. There are plenty of Rose Tyler fans out there who have plenty of self respect, and liking characters shouldn't be an either-or proposition. You're allowed to like them all, really.

I love Rose. Ship Nine/Rose way more than Ten/Rose. But I don't know, I feel like the Doctor pulled kind of a dick move on her the first time around when he forced her into the parallel world. I mean, I know it was a chance for her to be with her family, but it still should have been her decision in the end.

I would just like to say that reading most of the comments on this secret has really made me feel a lot better! When I first saw these episodes I wasn't really involved in internet fandom and I just naturally grew to ship this like mad... when I decided to go and look around the web I encountered a lot of vitriol for Rose and Rose/Ten which made me feel really bad because they were my favourites and everyone was saying you're not a true fan if you're into them. But yeah, thanks guys. :)

FWIW, even though I resented the hell out of the Ten/Rose shippy stuff on the show, I cried like a big ol' baby the first time I saw that episode. And then I flailed a bit to my friends about how sad it was, took a deep breath, got over it, kept watching, went "MARTHA JONES ILU YOU ARE EVERYTHING THAT HAS BEEN MISSING FROM MY DOCTOR WHO VIEWING EXPERIENCE UNTIL NOW," and promptly forgot all about Rose until I rewatched those episodes and went "Holy fuck, I'd forgotten how sad this was, pass me the Kleenex."

So YANA, anon, and not just among fellow shippers and Rose fans.
