I totally agree with this. Fanarts are awesome but manips usually creep me out, especially when they put a tiny head with a huge body.

I agree. I have almost never seen a manip I liked, though some are gloriously awful.

(Does anyone else remember a site called "Gods of Thunder: The Photomanipulations" featuring Lord of the Rings actors? That was... amazing, but I think it's gone forever.)

I squick soooo hard at manips -- not even porn manips, all manips. It's terrible, some of my favorite authors use them to illustrate their fics. I can only cope by quick copying and pasting their fic somewhere else that doesn't copy pictures, or scrolling past it so that it's past the top of the window.

I love, love, love fanart that isn't a manip, but manips just trigger my RPF squick x 10.

Get Adblock. You can block just the single image, or all images from a site, and read all the fic there without ever having to see the pictures again. It's a must when browsing older Star Trek sites.

I only have a problem with photo manips when they are presented as art. Like for example when the list of 2011 Big Bang came out some of the artists had done photo manips. That pissed me off. I could do those and I don't call myself an artist by any stretch.

Man, this. Mostly, the people doing the manips don't seem to have a clue about appropriate head-to-body size ratio, and they seem to always choose the weirdest, most inappropriate facial expressions.

Or bodies that just *don't fit*. At all. Bleh.
