I used to think it would be really hard to give up gluten, but when I realised that was what was making me sick it was actually easy, the idea of eating wheat is about as appealing as eating D-Con Mouse Prufe.
And pretty much everything that has gluten can be made without; if you live in an urban area, you don't even necessarily have to make it yourself. If there's a Trader Joe's or Whole Foods or similar store, they will have all kinds of junk foods usually made from wheat that are gluten free (but watch out, it's easy to overdo those things)

There really is a lot of stuff out there that you can still totally eat, it just takes a while to find it (or to realize that it was there the whole time!).
And like tiferet above said, there are more and more gluten-free foods popping up every day.
Also of note, if you ever have to go through the diet, don't feel discouraged if it takes years for you to feel your health improving; depending on how damaged your intestines were it can take from a few weeks to a few months to several years for the intestines to heal and for you to start feeling truly healthy.
