I have a kind of love-hate relationship with these films as well. As a teenager I loathed them and always ranted about how they're bad examples for young girls. And I think they still are in many ways. But now that I'm in my mid.... oh, ok, late 20s... I can enjoy them just as often beautiful pieces of animation, and pretend the horrible messages aren't there. That's what you call a guilty pleasure.

I still don't know if I'd let my daughter watch them, though, if I had a daughter. Maybe I'd use them as jumping off points for conversations with her about the less pleasant bits of the stories. But more likely I'll just give her the Miyazaki classics the watch instead and let her watch Disney when she's a little older.

That's kind of tl;dr considering I don't even have any kids..
