Ruining someone's stuff is a really shitty thing to do. But does it count as abuse? It really seemed like the only time he did it. They were having an argument and he overreacted. But the end it's just things. They weren't even really hers, she just found them.

I'm sure for a lot of people it would count as emotional abuse (but a single case of it rather than prolonged). It's not just the destruction of someone's property though, it's the destruction of the sentimental value attached to them. Ariel was so fascinated by the human world that she collected all of those things, and "Part of Your World" clearly showed they meant a lot to her. The entire way Triton destroyed her things was so over the top that it didn't really make it any less awful.
