Why are they your friends if you admit to hating that kind of treatment?

[identity profile] cysfics.livejournal.com 2012-01-24 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
Sometimes you take what you can get (or at least, what you think you can get).

[identity profile] masakochan.livejournal.com 2012-01-24 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
Yup.

This.

Because people aren't perfect, and while they may occasionally make OP feel like crap, that's not saying they're always acting like that. They could be super awesome funtime friends, except for this one annoying thing. If I were to drop all of my friends that had bad habits or weren't 100% perfect, I'd have no friends. Because people aren't perfect.

You need new friends.

(Anonymous) 2012-01-24 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
Some people aren't good at making friends.

(Anonymous) 2012-01-24 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, shut up.

[identity profile] box-life.livejournal.com 2012-01-24 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
Me too. It's most of the reason I've only watched them once.

[identity profile] kryptoncat.livejournal.com 2012-01-24 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
Those dudes probably think they're just joking and that you like it. Tell them otherwise. If they don't change their behavior, I'd stop hanging out with them. If you tell them and they don't even take you seriously, yeah, that person is not your friend.

(Anonymous) 2012-01-24 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
This. The next time one of them says something to you, just turn to them and say "could you not rag on me all the time? It makes me feel like crap." You don't have to be confrontational or anything, just make sure that they can tell you're being serious. If they can't respect that, they're not real friends.

OP: they treated Hermione like the butt of the joke, I agree. If your friends are always treating you like this, try talking to them about it. Do not just drop their asses, because you must be friends with them for some reason. Weigh the reason; see if it's that important.

To everyone saying OP just needs new friends: I'm sure you've all stood up to your friends whenever they were being a dick, each and every time. But since there is such a thing as the type of person who likes to avoid confrontation with the people who matter in their life, I'd ask you all to kindly shut the fuck up. Whatever you're saying, I'm sure OP has thought of it before.

as somebody who has sometimes been literally sick with nerves over having to call friends or family out on shit behavior, fucking thank you.

(Anonymous) 2012-01-24 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
yeah ikr, I am a rather confrontational person but my first thought wasn't "lol y u whinin get new friends lamer" because some people either don't have the nerve/confidence/ability to stand up and confront or their friends MIGHT NOT DO IT ALL THE TIME, who knows.

# of oblivious other posters is sad.

YES. I'm not confrontational, and I hate telling my friends they are wrong about something, or that I don't like something they do.

If it's any consolation, the actress is a bitch

whoa, really?

[identity profile] murderershair.livejournal.com 2012-01-24 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that made me super uncomfortable. As in, oh god, they kind of are like that to her in the books uncomfortable.

[identity profile] greeneyed.livejournal.com 2012-01-24 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
I liked the first part, but the second got ridiculously sexist, it wasn't even a parody. The sequel made me realise what had been wrong with the first one. Then, we have the portrayal of Ginny and Cho...

[identity profile] verschreibsel.livejournal.com 2012-01-24 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Same here.
And I consider myself a Starkid fan now.
Of course there's the whole thing about Bonnie's questionable beliefs but I'll leave that out of it.

Yeah how they treated Ginny and Hermione annoyed me. Hermione is my favourite character in the books so it really struck a nerve. I didn't even watch all of AVPM the first time. But then when Darren got that role on Glee (which I was obsessed with at that time) I tried watching more of his stuff again (although I had been aware of the whole starkid thing before that) and found some parts I likedI don't know if it was a Darren thing but I actually watch Starship fearing I wouldn't like it either and that I was really just in it for Darren but I really loved it and bought the CD on iTunes.

[identity profile] franceismyhomie.livejournal.com 2012-01-25 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
omgosh this. so much.

My friends all think the way Ron and everyone treat Hermione [and Ginny] is hilarious, but it actually just made me cringe...like, this is different than friendly teasing; they're constantly harassing her and it's not even just her friends - it's everyone! It just makes me feel so insanely bad for her whenever something like that happens. And for Draco - but that's a totally different story.
