"Protect her from dangers even if she might hate him for it"

There are so many problems with this statement I feel frustrated over what constitutes as romance amongst girls at these days.

And when did she hate him for it? As far as I remember she was always hung up on him even when he turned his back and left. She contemplated suicide and later put her life in peril again and again just to see his face in her head.

possibly OP might be talking about how Bella sometimes didn't like the fact that Edward was placing himself and his family in danger in order to protect her (of course, Bella wouldn't have been in danger if it wasn't for Edward in the first place...so I guess they're even...). But I don't remember her ever really hating him for it. iirc she just felt guilty/resentful about it sometimes

I only watched the first two movies and read parody reviews of the series so I am not a good judge. You may be right.
