Gawd, how I hate the old "I can't avoid the fandom" bullshit whineing.

Yes, you can.

I did it for HP fandom, and that's 200x the size of Sherlock's fanbase.

To be fair, the Harry Potter fandom really came into existence pre-tumblr, and if I'm getting my timing correctly, tumblr came out the year of the last book, so there would have been less fandom on tumblr, which is what I'm seeing a lot of complaining about. Of course, the movies were still coming out, but most of the books were already past, you know?

I know, right? I just do not get these secrets. I'm in the Harry Potter, Transformers, Supernatural, and DC Comics fandoms, and they're not exactly what you'd call small. And yet somehow, I manage to avoid 99.9% of the wank. The only time I hear about it is after the fact or here on FS.

If I let people like the Snapewives or that fanbrat who gave Peter Cullen graphic human/transformer fic at a con run me out of fandom-I wouldn't have any fandoms left.
