Yeah, despite the whole OBVIOUS TROLL SECRET IS OBVIOUS vibe, I completely agreed with that line. It's a ridiculous double standard, and so many people refuse to acknowledge it. If two men's character interactions would have been read as canonical het romance between a man and woman, it's silly to adamantly proclaim "they're just friends and all other interpretations are invalid fujoshit!"
I also dislike it in reverse, when I'm watching a movie with a great male-female friendship and then all of a sudden makeouts out of nowhere! Because that great friendship was obviously a buildup to romance even though it felt totally platonic because they are a man and woman!
