Well, I'm no Peter Pan expert, but I thought that was kind of the point, especially in that particular interpretation? Like, Peter Pan is supposed to be about growing up vs. hanging on to childhood or something, I feel that romance/sex would be a part of that... I only saw that movie once, when I was like 10, so I don't remember it very well, but I remember it being somewhat sexual too, or at least having romantic undertones... and I don't think 10-year-old me was THAT messed up.

I watched that last night and I think it was intentional? She was briefly entranced by/attracted to (depending on your interpretation) Captain Hook. And it is kind of a coming of age film, so it's no surprise that it's mildly sexual, even if they are a little ... young, probably.

As for Tinkerbell, I just want to say...

I remember this movie seeming pretty adult at times. It could have been the atmosphere though. The overall setting made it look like a very dark film. I need to check it out again~

It's definitely a more sexualized version of the story, though even the original novel has undertones of sexuality in it. I think the only original source material doesn't have some sort of implied sexual content is Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens, in which Peter appears to be a toddler or a little older.

I love love love this movie, yet every time I watch it, I'm still surprised by how sexual it seems. No doubt that it was intentional. As the above commenters said, it's a coming of age movie. It's a big whirl of growing up/romance/mild sexual discovery. It's especially overt in the scene where Wendy gets in trouble at school because of the picture she drew with Peter hovering over her.

That said, you could make the argument that it's a visually darker/more adult adaptation than we normally see, so it works.

And as for Tink, I'm not exactly fond of her, although I wouldn't word it the way you did. She does have the excuse of being a fairy. Fairies are only big enough for one emotion at a time! Tink just happens to be mad the entire time.

You're not alone. I felt like a giant pedophile while watching this, but I think that it was filmed that way.

Of course it wasn't filmed as a Hook/Pan ship, but my brain managed to manufacture that part just fine. ;)

Well, in that particular adaption, I wasn't paying attention to much of anything except Hook. And kind of ship Peter/Hook (and maybe Wendy/Hook too) even though I wish I didn't.

But I do think this was kind of the intention. The whole point is about growing up, and sexual desire is a big part of that.

This is my favorite version of Peter Pan and it is definitely sexualized. But I don't think they ever would have had a normal relationship even if they had been older and slept together. Peter didn't have any interest in responsibility of any kind. A sexual relationship would have required more of him than he was willing to give, I think.

Seriously though, I watched this movie again a couple weeks ago (with my mother, no less), OH MY GOD sexual tension. Like WHOA. And for some reason, the tension between Wendy and Peter almost made me more uncomfortable that between Wendy and Hook. I guess it was the Mommy-Daddy thing, in part at least.
