Um, join the club? The part in the trailer that made me squee the hardest is when the dwarves start singing. The animated Hobbit film that got me into Tolkien features quite a bit of singing, so EXCITEMENT.

I recommend buying the VHS over the DVD, and I will tell you why- for reasons unknown to me or anyone I have spoken to about this, the DVD distributor cut some of the sound effects from the film. The rumble when the goblins move the cave walls to ambush Bilbo and the dwarves? Gone. The rad sound that the spiders make when they die? Gone. Smaug's breath crackling as he breathes fire? Gone. There are more, but those are the ones that stand out in my mind.

the animated Hobbit movie was quite a large chunk of my childhood. The only fly in my ointment regarding the new movie is that that song will have a different tune.

Admittedly, that bothered me at first as well. But as long as they include some of the verse in song-form, I think I'll be able to let differences in tune/pacing/whatever slide.
