I agree, OP. The Hobbit is actually the only Tolkien book I read all the way through (yes, lame, I know), and I am dearly hoping that it is every bit as awesome as the trilogy was. That book is amazing.

If you love LOTR, then I strongly suggest you save up money to one day visit New Zealand. That place really IS Middle Earth.

Oh, come on, it looks utterly awesome! It might not break as much technological ground as the trilogy did, but you know that with PJ, they're going to try their best to be faithful, if not always in events (which don't always work well cinematically), then at least in spirit.

Hell, yes. This year is like the most amazing year ever. First, we get Darth Plagueis. Later, we'll get Avengers, Game of Thrones season 2, and The Hobbit.

How can any following year hope to match up to the awesomeness that is this year? Everything following is just going to be a disappointment.

I'm just so excited to get a chance to go back to Middle Earth, you know? Sure, the scope of the story isn't going to be as epic, but stories don't always have to be huge and grandiose to be awesome.

Um, join the club? The part in the trailer that made me squee the hardest is when the dwarves start singing. The animated Hobbit film that got me into Tolkien features quite a bit of singing, so EXCITEMENT.

I think anyone who doubts this movie already is a moron. This is PETER JACKSON we're talking about. Nobody loves the source material as much as he does.

I waaaaay too super excited for this movie, too. ;D I try not to get my hopes up too much, but... yeah, too late.

Me too. I am super excited for this movie! I remember reading the book in 8th grade english class. I loved it. My mom and sister are also hyped for this movie since we saw the trilogy in theaters multiple times.

Lately I've been rewatching the extended versions of the trilogy like crazy. I don't think I'll ever get tired of it.

It's a year away, but that doesn't seem too long considering how much time it's been since the trilogy ended.

looking back at the trilogy, I have fair hopes that the hobbit will actually be better. I mean, even within the trilogy you *see* how much the whole crew grew with their tasks and learned, and never mention the possibilities of latest visual effects.
I just hope that they don't go and overemphasize "epicness", and keep true to the love for detail that the hobbit originally had.

...now, If I could only somehow get myself to see Bilbo instead of Freeman in a Hobbit costume Dx

Squee! All the squee! I can't wait for the Hobbit. It's one of the few things that could drag me out of the house for a midnight showing (I'm old enough this time!)

Oh God, the picture of the secret alone is enough to send fucking chills down my spine, I'm so ridiculously excited... And I know there's no guarantee that it will be amazing, but it's a chance to return to Middle Earth and it's Peter Jackson and I just can't not be crazy crazy excited about that. Just... OMG yes.

I saw the trailer online and I was actually squeaking with joy. I CANNOT WAITTT.
