Completely agreed anon.

There's something I saw on tumblr that I think is really an apt description: "Sally Donovan added two and two together and got four, the only problem was that Moriarty had changed the answer to five, and no one knew."

She's a good cop, she just had bad luck to be on the losing end of the battle between Moriarty and Sherlock. :(

I don't think she's on either end; she was just a pawn. Lestrade might be a loser in the game, but Donovan came out pretty evenly - if not better off, for questioning Sherlock and blowing the whistle on a pretty major scandal.

My bets would be on Sherlock acknowledging that she made the best deduction she could based on the evidence in front of her and her limited intelligence, and that she can't be blamed for falling for Moriarty's trap. I'm a bit worried about Lestrade, because if he isn't faced with a disciplinary hearing and the associated leave and name-blackening then I'll be very surprised, but I won't be surprised if they don't address it.

Yeah, like I feel really bad for Lestrade, but on the flip side... He did break the rules. I mean, it was important, I get that, but at the same time...

I mean, good lord, he could have at least told Sherlock to put on the friggen suit for inside crime scenes, and enforced it!

I hope it works out for him, though.

Completely agree with you. Mycroft will get him out of it (probably out of guilt, because there is no way that Sherlock is going to let him know that he's alive), but it will probably be rough whilst he waits for the outcome. His wife will probably go for good, and he's left with the knowledge that the last thing he said to one of his friends was arresting him... I've overthought this a bit for fanfic purposes

I am glad of this. I'm sort of new to Sherlocking. It always seems to take me 2 series to go "OMG I has fic!" and then get into the fandom for things. LOTR, Torchwood, Sherlock... And then, of course, I spend a month overhinking things whilst I should be working. Even Mycroft's house, I have overthought that. And Lestrade's houseboat.

I can't find a photo, but he had a boat in Lewis. Okay, so that was a different character but...
