I hate Sally-hate so damn much. Mostly because people seem to act as if she has a completely unreasonable grudge against Sherlock, when in her first appearance we see him revealing extremely personal details about her and Anderson in public and in front of what (to her) is basically a complete stranger. And I got the impression that he'd probably done worse.

She did call him names and warn John off, and that wasn't great of her, but at the same time, here's this dude who's not even part of the police invading her crime scenes, revealing personal information, insulting everyone, and generally being a giant dick.

Did she jump the gun when it came to her concluding Sherlock was behind it? Probably. Did she let her feelings affect her judgement? Most definitely. But she was manipulated- she was meant to come to that conclusion, and she also had compelling enough evidence to make Lestrade doubt Sherlock.

TL;DR- It makes me mad when people call Sally a bitch.

you seem to be missing the forest for a tree here, mate. no original commenter, but the point seems to be: Sally is a dick, but no more so than Sherlock, and probably less that Sherlock, all in all. So hate towards her is about as understandable as dislike of Sherlock-like characters which...wait, nope, no one hates his.

Look, my only point in this part of the convo is: it's unfair to say Sherlock is "invading" her crime scenes when's he ASKED to come to them. That's all I'm saying.

And when we first meet Sally, is Sherlock ~officially~ allowed on crime scenes? Like, is he recognized by Lestrade's higher-ups as being a consultant with permission to be there? If he isn't, I think it qualifies as an invasion of her workspace. It's unlawful and no one besides Lestrade likes having him hanging around.

Strictly speaking, she doesn't treat him like he's her boss. Until you just said, I never really thought about him as their boss. Always seemed like they were on pretty equal footing.

Regardless of who her boss is, she can't go to them. She wouldn't be able to go to Lestrade, because he's the one letting Sherlock onto scenes in the first place, and she wouldn't be able to go to someone higher up because everyone who knew about Sherlock being allowed on crime scenes could get into deep shit if someone important enough found out. Which could result in her being fired or demoted.

She'd be protected by whistle-blowing laws, and, as we saw when she finally did it in Fall, she did have someone she could have gone to.

I'm really not. The person I'm replying to says that Sally is justified in hating Sherlock for, another other reasons (some of which I agree with them on) showing up at crime scenes. I'm pointing out that the reason he's showing up at crime scenes is that her boss is asking him to come. So really, it's her boss she should take that issue up with, not Sherlock.

Fucking yes! I mean, I get not liking a character, but I dislike how self righteous all these people are about their hate. She is a bitch to Sherlock but as I see it, it's not like he's the blameless victim here. She's really only sharpish with him, and why not? He's a complete dickface to everyone, and treats police work (her job that she dedicates her whole life to) and her colleagues like shit. I don't think being nasty is soooo unwarranted. It's certainly not very mature (I wouldn't let Sherlock know he'd gotten to me, at least) but let's get real. Her calling Sherlock a freak is not nearly the same as her doing it to anyone else. Sherlock's implies they're all fucking idiots in the rudest way pretty much as often, which is basically the equivalent.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I like Sherlock, but I also like Sally. She's an interesting character with flaws. Lord I can see why people wouldn't, but it's really the attitude they take to it that's off putting.
