9. I didn't ship Master/Doctor until I met Dero. >> (Though I don't ship new!Master/Ten because I haven't even seen that season yet.)

14. For seriously.

19. Ditto. :\

24. I don't hate Mary Sues because of any preference for slash. I hate Mary Sues because dumb twelve year olds flood FF.net with fics about themselves + [insert male character] + [insert stupid fucking angsty topic like omg I wanna cut maiself because he duznt wub me!1].

-_-

15. Heh. That is very, very true. Although the Winchesters can take comfort in the fact that they are all smokin' hot.

18. I don't feel one way or another about Master/Doctor, but the ship and everything that came with it did appear rather...quickly, didn't it? I have never seen a ship explode that much before.

[identity profile] klytaemnestra.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)

6. Isn't that a repeat? o_O
11. Wow, that's lame. Couldn't you just have said that in a comment when the original secret was posted? Do you really need attention that much?
13. Meet 16.
14. DO NOT WANT!
16. Meet 13. And IAWTS.
24. I hate any group of individuals who think it's funny or cool to bash another group. I immediately lose respect for anyone who does that. And yeah, slash has so much crap in it it's not even funny.

6. Sort of, it was too frickin big to post the first time around. It was put in the too big secrets part and I remember it taking like, a minute or two to download on my fios O_O

1. Oh yeah. It seems like no matter how old you get or what you do on the computer you're always "wasting" your life on the internet, instead of interacting with friends you'd otherwise never get a chance to meet. I may never go to Italy, but I've made a great friend there thanks to internet and fandom.

5. What's stopping you from writing long paragraphs in IM rp? I do it all the time ^_^;; and have irrelevant conversation in parenthesis on top of that. Might wanna talk to your friend about that.

16. Why? You don't have to read them. Granted, I don't like seeing them cause I'm like "Hodamn, I gotta read all this?" I generally skip it, and if enough people comment on it, I'll go back and give it a quick read XD

21. Man, I had an RPer do that to me. She told me that when I wasn't online to play strong seme to her emasculated weepy emo uke, that she hurt herself. I gave up trying to be the suicide intervention hotline a long time ago. People don't listen. And this is going to sound severely assholian, but I've known people who have been saved from suicide by internet friends moving heaven and earth to call their local rescue squad. Honestly, they should have let them die. They've gone on to be even more miserable and unproductive and now they're in debt and in place that they hate. They would have been better off kicking it the first time.

(Anonymous) 2007-07-07 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
21 i guess if a persons that unhappy they should just go, but why tell a complete stranger? is the whole point of it just to make as many people miserable as possible? i'm just left not understanding a whole lot

Okay~

1. I think a lot of people would agree with this. We are reading fandom!secrets, after all.

2. I concur. Not necessarily that series, but I hate when I'm really passionate about something (or would be) if it wasn't for the annoying sex/nudity/idiocy they throw around that makes other people think you're insane for enjoying it.

5. I can relate to this on more levels than I'd like to admit

10. Umm.... To each their own, I guess?

13. Life-changing Animorphs, FTW. I don't know what I love more, that someone posted this secret or how many people in general went IAWTS. God, that series certainly shaped my life. But no one knows about it, 'cause all I talk about is FMA.

14. My friends and I make the PANTS jokes for the humor in it, but no I'm not part of the fandom. And I don't ever intend to be part of the fandom, I've seen what fandom does to beloved things - and 22 years of obsession down the drain for Link!panty-shots? Uh, no... Thanks, anyway.

16. I concur. I don't have the attention span to read all of that. As mentioned above, I skipped 13, because of it.

19. This seems to be an on-going issue....

21. Wow, um... I have a hard enough time with issues like that, when it is my friend. I wouldn't know what the hell to do, with some random person I don't know telling me that stuff.

23. Band-nazism aside... Yeah, I'm a major canon-nazi on a lot of things. I don't care so much if something's altered a bit, but to go completely against something that would or wouldn't happen pisses me off. Whether it's fandom vs. canon, or a legit production ignoring facts.... It drives me insane. I hate watching movies or whatever and thinking "Dear God, do you do -any- research on that subject before spewing out this ill-thought out work?"
karel: (larsa; little things give you away)

[personal profile] karel 2007-07-07 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
5. Uhhh I think this is about me. I swear to god I TRY to make them long replies. I'm just not very good at it! And I'm online, but you're never on when I am! D:

23. XD I know. In nearly every single anime I've ever watched, and in many TV shows and movies, they get piano playing wrong. It makes me want to scream.

Ken Atsamaru? If yes, I'm totally with you, except that the fanservice had me hating Love Hina withing ten pages.

[identity profile] samuraiter.livejournal.com 2007-07-07 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
To #1: I can agree with this. Many of us live in places where fandom cannot be publicly expressed. Thus, the Internet gives us what we lack.

To #2: I can see your grievance, but I'm afraid you've been outvoted by the male half of the fan base. ;-) Me? It's a bishounen-free series, so bring on the female fan service, I say! In the age of yaoi, the guys need something, too, IMO.

To #11: It does seem a little sketchy, doesn't it?

To #14: Link killed Soul Calibur fandom. IMO, he now deserves the abuse he gets. :-|

To Not!Secret #1: I'm a GM. The players owe me posts, damn them. :-)

To Not!Secret #2: Rock on. Harlock is awesome.

[identity profile] luzerna.livejournal.com 2007-07-07 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
3. I don't mind that kind of fanart at all... sometimes I think I'm the only one. The artist might have drawn them differently but they're not redoing the personality, which is really the part that counts in a character.

24. People who are overly obsessive/paranoid about some dumb character stereotype annoy the heck out of me. STFU please. In other words, I agree with you. =D

25. lol.

13

[identity profile] djtifabal.livejournal.com 2007-07-07 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
I agree with you 100%. I loved Animorphs, still do. I still can't get past just how bad the show was. I sit there and nitpick at the details. xD

The books were awesome though. Book sixteen had me laughing for hours because of this quote:

"Caution: Falling objects."

Good lord... those two chapters involving Tobias morphing into a fly was just hysterical.

Seriously.. Animorphs did change my life views for the better.

A leader. A warrior. A comedian. An alien. A hawk. The nice one.

Side note... Animorphs also introduced me into time travel and how much of an impact a simple thing can effect the future.

Thank you for the secret, whoever you are. ♥

[identity profile] pariah164.livejournal.com 2007-07-07 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
13. My friends got me the entire Animorphs series, ALL the books, for my college grad gift.

Seriously, all the books. I had to clear out over half a shelf so I could put them away. ♥

[identity profile] aikochan.livejournal.com 2007-07-07 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
If anyone ever did that for me, I would quite possibly be willing to become their love slave. That is an incredible gift (especially considering how hard some of the books are to find these days...).

Also, number 2, I love Negima, even with the fanservice. :\ Why do you hate a series for fanservice? IDGI. I mean, if you hate fanservice, how can you be an anime/manga fan at all? The genre's full of it. :|

[identity profile] samuraiter.livejournal.com 2007-07-07 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
Particularly if Akamatsu is drawing it. The fan service is one reason -- of many! -- why I prefer the Love Hina manga to the Love Hina anime. There are things that one can do in manga that one absolutely cannot do in animated TV series, and that is one of the big ones.

13 - That was beautiful. I'm so glad I'm not the only one. I wrote a third of my junior independent research paper last year on Tobias, just because I wanted so desperately to go back to those books and give them the academic credit they deserve. They're the reason I have all of my friends, and they changed my life more than anything else ever has, or probably ever will.

[identity profile] radarsparks.livejournal.com 2007-07-07 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
13. Me too.

[identity profile] colortheory.livejournal.com 2007-07-07 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
18. I'll admit that I like the pairing. I think that they do have good chemistry. Plus, you have one Time Lord cradling the dying body of another and crying over it. The slash fangirls come out in droves. I think your reaction's kind of extreme, though. So you don't like a pairing. I can accept that. It's perfectly fine. I personally don't like Ten/Martha that much. But letting it control whether you like or dislike the series as a whole? That I have issues with.

(Anonymous) 2007-07-07 01:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it wasn't something I could help. Everytime the Master showed up, I knew there was going to be a storm of squee following every interaction with the Doctor.

Though, it didn't make me hate the entire show from One to Ten--I was too general when I wrote my secret. Rather, it made me sort of dread watching the new episodes, and pulled a lot of the emotion out of the Master's death because, again, all it made me think of was the fan flailing that would result.

Anyway, it's over now so I expect the squee will ebb to more reasonable levels and I'll go back and rewatch the last three episodes later, and hopefully feel it a bit more. Though I don't think I can ever take glowy!Ten totally seriously, lol.

CSI did that to me. Now I'm just worried about keeping a stonic face in the court room and making sure my testimony is infallible.

I also will not injure myself on the stand and will wear plenty of antiperspirant. As sweating is a sign of guilt.

1: I hear you. Get it from the parents all the time.

9 & 18: LOL. Figures we'd get these two secrets in the same post. I have no idea where I am on this one. The finale did get me thinking, though, and it's not like anyone can say the Doctor DOESN'T care about him. :\ But, yes. Slash is a fickle thing.

21: Had a similar experience, but with a friend. Not fun.

6. The creator's approach to politics reminds me of this (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v42/orenji_juusu/shmorkycomic.gif?t=1183769933). When you have a webcomic, you can create all the crazy strawmen you want! And that way your favored characters will always be right!

9. As soon as I read the casting rumors I knew that there would be slash, but I didn't expect the episodes themselves to be as wonderfully subtexty as they were. <3

10. Who doesn't love a man dark lord in a fine suit?

24. So much word. I joined the Sue communities way back when, hoping to have some fun mocking some bad writing (because Sues can be really funny) but had to leave after all the constant whingeing about how someone's Sue was RUINING the FANDOM and SPITTING in the face of the fandom's creator and how the posts were always met more with internet outrage instead of lols and so on.
