That's how I feel about transgenders, tbh. I support transgender rights in a distanced "let people be whoever they want to be", but honestly? I don't care to read any fic about it, I don't care to discuss it.... it just doesn't interest me whatsoever. *Kenye shrug* I don't waste time if this makes me some kind of gender-phobe or whatever, but you're not alone OP.

(Anonymous) 2012-02-12 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
... People who are transitioning or have from one gender to another, or who don't have one at all? Don't be an asshole, you know what I meant.

[identity profile] oflittlebrain.livejournal.com 2012-02-12 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
'transgenders' isn't the word, obviously

they weren't "being an asshole" they were just pointing out that you're doing it wrong!

"transgender people" or "trans people" would have been better, i believe.

i don't really care for most trans fic either, but it would help you sound more credible if you used the right terminology.

(Anonymous) 2012-02-12 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
This is how much I care.

(Anonymous) 2012-02-12 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
so not only do you not care about trans fiction, you also don't care about not being hurtful to irl trans people

look at you, so edgy

[identity profile] oroburos69.livejournal.com 2012-02-12 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
Enough to comment?

[identity profile] oflittlebrain.livejournal.com 2012-02-12 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
then this is how much i value your opinion on this issue :')

[identity profile] hoggle2807.livejournal.com 2012-02-12 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
Actually, I thought it was kind of assholish, too. If you (general you) want to correct people, correct them, but don't do these pat one-word replies that really say nothing other than "I noticed something you did wroooooooong!"

(Anonymous) 2012-02-12 07:04 am (UTC)(link)
+1 No kidding. It's not a wonder that people have developed a knee jerk reaction.

(Anonymous) 2012-02-12 08:30 am (UTC)(link)
cant help it with all the SJWs around to righteously defend the innocent!

(Anonymous) 2012-02-12 08:29 am (UTC)(link)
totally agree, pretty sure this is what the "WE DON'T LIKE SJWs" thread was all about the other day.

(Anonymous) 2012-02-12 07:05 am (UTC)(link)

Way to squander a teachable moment. Asshole.

(Anonymous) 2012-02-12 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
Just so you know, when the topic of gender identity is relevant, we prefer to be referred to as "transgender(ed) people" or "transmen/women/people." Just so you don't get jumped on next time.

(Anonymous) 2012-02-12 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
They can still get jumped on if they don't add the space between trans and [insert noun here].

[identity profile] hoggle2807.livejournal.com 2012-02-12 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks for this. It's just so refreshing to see a reasonably-stated, helpful response to something like that. No pearl-clutching, no biting accusations or feigned ignorance -- just straightforwardness. You win, anon!

[identity profile] oflittlebrain.livejournal.com 2012-02-12 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
um honestly i think if you're going to comment on this you should at least check to make sure you're using the right terms?

i'm not sure why you think ~~tone~~ is so important here tbh. anon should have looked that shit up. it's like spellcheck!

(Anonymous) 2012-02-12 07:03 am (UTC)(link)
Oh fuck you. There are so many terms, and that anon is supposed to get the right term (flavor of the day?) not everyone lives in your stupid little SJW circles you obsessed weirdo.

(Anonymous) 2012-02-12 07:19 am (UTC)(link)

omfg, not everybody is perfectly educated in the area of linguistics and the history of words. obviously if they thought they were using it incorrect they would have said something else. and clearly they DIDN'T think they were using it incorrectly, so why would they just magically think, "HM, MAYBE I SHOULD LOOK UP THIS WORD BEFORE USING IT JUST IN CASE I GOT IT WRONG? actually, maybe i should look up EVERY word in my sentence in case i got those wrong, too!".

[identity profile] fuchsiascreams.livejournal.com 2012-02-12 08:31 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks so much for posting this. It's really nice to see someone correct somebody's incorrect or potentially hurtful terminology with a calm, clear and concise response that isn't prefaced by "YOU'RE AN ASSHOLE FOR SAYING THIS".

Thank you so much, the Internet needs more people like you.

(Anonymous) 2012-02-12 07:18 am (UTC)(link)
lol "kenye". you're not interested in black ppl either, amirite?

(Anonymous) 2012-02-12 07:33 am (UTC)(link)
Not the same anon: Yes because spelling something wrong = not being interested in your little world.

Sad, sad.

(Anonymous) 2012-02-12 08:36 am (UTC)(link)
yeah, what? what the fuck?

since when does being a poor speller = being racist? what the fuck is wrong with people these days?

tl;dr OMG U SPELLED A BLACK PERSON'S NAME WRONG!! RACIST!!!1 YOU OBVIOUSLY SHOULD HAVE LOOKED THAT UP BEFORE POSTING IT!!!

(Anonymous) 2012-02-16 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
Uhh... what fandom are you in that transgender porn is the norm, and where do I sign up? (also it's called transphobic, not gender-phobe... XD And uh... It's Kanye. )
