No, you know what? I'm going to have to agree with the poster of this secret (though he/she could have said it more politely). There's an official way the name is spelled (Edward Elric - shorthand "Ed"), and if someone is going to write down his name in a fanfic then he/she should write it by the proper spelling and not by how the characters pronounce it in Japanese.

Besides, by the way the people introduce themselves, the anime takes place in a European-like country, so one could argue that Japanese is the dubbed language being used so that fans in Japan can understand it.

Al randomly calling out "Edo!" in a fic or Ed shouting "Aru!" is fangirl Japanese. It's the same as a fanfic writer randomly adding in "Ai shiteru" into a predominantly written English fanfic. It's distracting and annoying.

I find it funny that I never disagreed with the poster of the secret and yet everyone takes my comment that way. Uhhuhhh.

I actually agree with the poster of the secret. In case you didn't read my sentence, like I don't think you did, I was talking about the Japanese. Not fangirls talking the way they talk. The secret was just ambiguous enough for me to make the comment since they said "they".

Ah, crap... I meant to respond to the original poster of the thread. Sorry about that. I feel stupid. Lol. Hope I didn't offend you!

Nah. XD But I don't think it would make a difference anyway.
