I thought that the new adaptation was excellent, but I'd say that it's probably one of those films where it's really best to have read the book or watched the old BBC miniseries beforehand. The limited timeframe meant that some pretty major plot points had a certain blink and you'll miss 'em quality.

It's the opposite for me. I found the film actually rather easy to follow but watching the miniseries afterwards was a real challenge. I only really knew what was happening because I'd seen the film. It required much more attention from me.

I found the film easier to understand than the book! Enjoyed both though.
