But yeah, nothing wrong with not liking something that doesn't turn you on.,

(Anonymous) 2012-03-11 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)As for the nonslash fans... I myself find it a bit skeevy when people decide on who to ship based on whether it's a gay pairing or not, whether it's slash fans or nonslash fans doing it. Having very few slash pairings just because of personal interest isn't really weird and discriminating like that at all.

I agree that it's kind of weird choosing based off of if it's a gay pairing or not, but I think it ends up just being personal preference. I tend to ship mostly canon pairings that have a chemistry of some kind together that I find pleasing and that I usually (but not always) find in het pairings. But I can definitely get behind slash (i.e. Sulu/Chekov and Kirk/Spock from Star Trek) and femslash (i.e. Regina/Emma from Once Upon a Time).

(Anonymous) 2012-03-11 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)fandom is just made up of assholes I swear.

That's... that's the best definition of fandom ever. It should be made into a flag or something.

(Anonymous) 2012-03-11 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)This. So, so much this. Reading slash does not make you more enlightened or supportive than someone who primarily reads het.

(Anonymous) 2012-03-11 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)I don't see why it's "skeevy" that I prefer to ship gay pairings or not. I like a lot of het pairings but I don't actively "ship it". Also, I'm gay yeah I agree that slashing has nothing to do with rights but I find that a lot of them are gay activists so that's ok with me. I couldn't care less if they like two dicks together
