The only parts of fandom I've encountered so far just wet themselves over Peeta so it's kind of relieving to come here and see some people who weren't crazy about him. He was a nice guy for sure, but he got a bit... annoying. He cooked up this plot to help them both survive, but secretly pined after her the entire time, and then got massively upset when he discovered it was still an act for Katniss? What did he expect, that she'd fall for him after being forced into a relationship?

His love for Katniss also seemed to superficial. He didn't know much about her before he decided he was in love with her. It's like people claiming they're in love with a celebrity when all they know about the person is from gossip or watching them. And the guy was willing to sacrifice his life for that? It's a bit sad. I'm sure I'd get along well with him if he were real because he was a genuinely nice and well-intentioned person, but I have to say I couldn't stand reading his character towards the end.

I did like Katniss, though. She did get annoying, usually when trying to decide who she liked better. But she was flawed, and she was interesting.

I love Katniss. Who said we needed perfect good girl characters anyway?
Peeta.. I like him, but the whole being "massively upset" thing, I agree. I still like him. Gale I absolutely could not stand because he was a jerk to Katniss because she did not return his feelings. He always seemed to be bothering her about stupid stuff like her feelings for him without realizing that she does not need that and has a lot more on her mind and that he just added to the stress. I feel like Peeta did not do that, at least.
