Your kind of missing the area between 'I'm not interested in Uhura' and 'I fucking hate her -insert bashing-'. It's possible to honestly dislike a character for legitimate reasons.

Doesn't "not interested in" generally indicate dislike, though? That's what I intended it to mean, anyway. "No, I'm not interested in Uhura because [legitimate, non-bigoted reasons]."

Lack of interest is neutrality, actually. Dislike is it's own, not-bashing thing, and that's what I see the most. Mouth-frothing Uhura-bashers are less common than you'd think.

Huh, okay! We're just operating off different definitions, I think. I definitely meant people who dislike her for rational reasons.

Maybe I just had a few bad experiences in the fandom, but I had a few run-ins with the crazed Uhura-bashers before I stopped participating in the main part of nuTrek fandom, and they were as bad as the secret indicates. I'm willing to believe most people have calmed down or left the fandom, though.

No, not interested means exactly that. Not interested. I'm not interested in STXI!Uhura. I can read stories about her, I do if people I know write her, but on the list of things I'm interested in about in that universe, she falls pretty far down on the list. I just don't think about her that much.

There are things I dislike about the movie and I definitely spend more time thinking about them because things I dislike are things which actively bother me.

I am not interested in NUhura. It doesn't mean I dislike her- I really don't care all that much one way or another. This is a really dumb analogy, but I kind of think of the characters I don't actively dislike but don't like particularly, either, as kind of like blueberries.

I don't hate blueberries, but they're not my favorite food ever. I'm not going to go out of my way to find and eat them, but if you put a plate of blueberries in front of me, I'm not going to be all "FUCK NO, BLUEBERRIES." I'll probably eat them, but they're not what I'd prefer to eat. Same thing with characters I'm not all that interested in- I'm not going to go out of my way to find fic with them in it or anything, but if they happen to be in something, I'll read it.

Argh, I hope that makes sense... I'm tired and my English isn't perfect even when I'm completely awake.

I'd definitely go FUCK NO BLUEBERRIES, because they taste like my puke. No thanks. I do love to pick them, though, and I'll give them to someone who'd appreciate blueberries.
